When I was a young dad, it was a different time. The concept of a stay at home dad was really a metaphor for no-account worthless bum who had no ambition. Man have times changed. And I am so glad for that. If it can be afforded by a couple, a stay at home parent, whether dad or mom, is so precious it can't be quantified. But therin lies the rub. We're all facing some really difficult times in the foreseeable future. Stability in the home has to remain paramount and jobs held to be precious. Previously, one could think of a term off from work for the sake of staying home with a child. But now, if one parent stay home and the other becomes unemployed, there's a recipe for a really tough time.
