Figures reveal that given the choice, most men will plump for a curvy girl - The Age

Scientific research group...wait, scratch that. Superficial guy magazine FHM conducted an online survey of 60,000 readers and asked them a question: which girl looks like your ideal girlfriend? To help answer the question, readers were shown an image of a size 8 model, size 12, and size 14. (See above link for photo.)

What will probably come as no surprise to those reading this blog is that the guys picked the bigger girls. Only 20% of those surveyed chose the skinny chick. But approximately 40% of the group chose each of the curvier ladies. And while this is not a huge shocker, considering mens fascination with healthy-looking women dating back thousands of years, it should send a message to fashionistas and the Real Housewives of Orange County that women are more enamored with skinny women than men are.

How does this tie into the world of Daddy? Very simply and in multiple ways. First, women shouldn't be obsessed with losing all the baby weight in the first week. Guys don't expect you to repeat the results of Angelina Jolie in the first two weeks. We don't all have the luxury of personal chefs, private trainers, nannies, and a work schedule envied by Jimmy Buffet. Exercise and eat healthy, but do it for yourself and the baby, not your guy. Secondly, women probably feel more threatened by eachother than men are attracted to them. In other words, you're more worried about the other girl than he is. Finally, men have been enamored with curvy women since the dawn of time and it is genetic. Its biological. Its logical. We want a woman who can bear children. Twig-like models on fashion runways might make some ridiculous designer's luxurious trashbag outfit look glamourous, but they can't do much when it comes time to breastfeed. And they certainly don't have enough meat on their bones to support a fetus! Humans have two biological goals - stay alive and make more life.

I like studies like these. They throw some reality in a ridiculously image-conscious society. So ladies, let this be a lesson. You don't need to choose between the apple and the donut, just make sure to eat both!
